Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Esteban Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ritchie Lampbert!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Chris Dean and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lampbert delivers a nice body kick.
Lampbert swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sanchez fails with a takedown attempt.
As Sanchez backs off Lampbert throws a huge counter combo but Sanchez manages to avoid it all.
Lampbert misses with a few strikes there.
Sanchez went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Sanchez shoots for a double leg takedown but Lampbert sprawls well. He's pushed Sanchez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lampbert thows a leg kick but Sanchez checks it
and Sanchez counters with a left and a right that stings Lampbert.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sanchez clinches with his opponent.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Sanchez takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Lampbert is looking to control Sanchez's arms but Sanchez gets an underhook and turns him. Now Lampbert has his back to the cage.

Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Sanchez.
Sanchez is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Lampbert to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Esteban Sanchez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sanchez fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Sanchez jumps guard but Lampbert turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
A bit of stalling here from Sanchez.
Sanchez tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Lampbert just stands there and leans against the cage.
Lampbert has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sanchez is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Sanchez breaks from the clinch.
Sanchez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lampbert as he avoids it easily.
Sanchez darts in trying to clinch
and Lampbert counters with a one-two to the body.

Lampbert throws a quick inside leg kick.
Some wild striking there from Lampbert.
Sanchez dives in and grabs Lampbert's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lampbert pushes down on Sanchez's head and hops out.
Lampbert is looking for the big counter here.
Sanchez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lampbert paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lampbert misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lampbert throws a right and a left that Sanchez avoids nicely.
A punch combination from Lampbert misses.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sanchez is defended easily by Lampbert.

and Sanchez counters with a left and a right that stings Lampbert.
Sanchez doesn't manage to clinch there - Lampbert circles away.
Sanchez darts in trying to clinch
and Lampbert counters with a series of strikes. Sanchez will be more careful next time no doubt.

Sanchez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lampbert tries to avoid it but Sanchez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lampbert to the ground. Lampbert escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sanchez fails to land the takedown.
Lampbert misses with a few strikes there.

Sanchez clinches up against the cage.

Lampbert pulls guard.

Lampbert is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Sanchez has his hands clasped together but Lampbert extends and breaks Sanchez's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Lampbert.
