The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sumerod closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Selmy did well to prevent Sumerod getting side control.

Sumerod looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Selmy moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Selmy is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Sumerod got a little sloppy there for a moment and Selmy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sumerod has managed to get both his arms back between Selmy's legs - danger averted.
