PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lyle Dale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kid Cudi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lyle Dale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kid Cudi!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dale gets the takedown into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
What's Cudi going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Cudi gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Cudi has his hands clasped together around Dale's back. He's all about the action.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are battling for position here. Cudi manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Dale postures up in Cudi's guard and throws a big left but Cudi blocks it.
Cudi lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Dale can't keep his opponent in guard - Cudi advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Cudi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dale with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Dale knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cudi on the ground.

Cudi looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Cudi is nestled in close to Dale, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Dale is staying active underneath Cudi, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Dale really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Let's hope that Cudi has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Cudi wants to control but Dale is keeping him busy.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Cudi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dale was covering up waiting for the punch and Cudi finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Cudi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Cudi wants to pass the guard but Dale is defending well.

Cudi is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Cudi is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Dale is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kid Cudi!
