Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Patryk Kowalski !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Florent Gunines!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gunines closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
You can see the frustration on Kowalski 's face as Gunines controls the position.
Gunines throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The strikes coming from Gunines are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Kowalski is trying to control Gunines's posture but Gunines avoids it.

Kowalski throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gunines tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kowalski is in Gunines's guard.

Gunines has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Kowalski is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Kowalski is looking for a kimura but Gunines is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kowalski to get the leverage.

Kowalski has gone for a leg lock! Gunines slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kowalski 's guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Patryk Kowalski will probably get the nod.

Gunines clinches with his opponent.

Gunines has hold of one of Kowalski 's legs. Kowalski is fighting the takedown attempt but Gunines gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Gunines throws an elbow that misses. Kowalski uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gunines's guard. Nice move by Kowalski !

Gunines has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kowalski can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gunines looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Kowalski has picked Gunines up and slammed him! Gunines can't keep hold of the triangle and Kowalski manages to pass to side control!

Gunines manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Kowalski keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Gunines has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kowalski off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Kowalski shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gunines as he jumps to the side.

Gunines tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kowalski swivels and escapes.
Kowalski tries to counter with a takedown but Gunines is quick to defend against it.

and Kowalski counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Gunines keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kowalski tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gunines sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kowalski somewhat.
Gunines unleashes a big counter combination but Kowalski bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Patryk Kowalski . That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Gunines has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
