Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Billy Gruff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
10 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Casper Vanderhose!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Donatello Bradman and Chris Dean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gruff wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Gruff throws a hook but Vanderhose blocks it.
Gruff looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Gruff misses with a body shot
and Vanderhose counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Vanderhose scores with a head kick.
Vanderhose dives in for a single leg takedown but Gruff sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
A solid body kick from Vanderhose.
Vanderhose has a takedown stuffed.
Gruff scores with a sloppy right hand. Vanderhose should have avoided that one.
It looks like Casper Vanderhose has been cut.
Gruff connects with a body shot that sends Vanderhose's belly button to the back.
Gruff throws a body shot but no joy.
Gruff scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Vanderhose doesn't seem bothered though.
Vanderhose looks winded!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Vanderhose throws a left and a right that both miss
and Gruff counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gruff scores with a nice head shot.
Vanderhose throws a low kick, looking for Gruff's leg but Gruff calmly moves out of range.
Gruff is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Gruff lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Vanderhose backs up against the cage.
Vanderhose lands with a kick to the temple. Gruff shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Gruff feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Vanderhose sprawling to the canvas! Vanderhose rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Gruff finish him?!
Vanderhose is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gruff connects with a superb combination that knocks Vanderhose out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Gruff before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Vanderhose!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Billy Gruff!
