Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Richard Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andy Askren is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Richard Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andy Askren!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.


It looks like Andy Askren has been cut.
Harris misses with the combination.
Harris tries a head kick but it misses.
Askren checks a leg kick nicely.
Harris throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Askren counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Harris has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Harris is trying to break free.

Askren jumps guard.
Askren controls Harris momentarily but Harris frees himself.
Askren tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Askren is trying to keep Harris in close.
Harris trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harris connects with a couple of short punches.
Harris stops Askren from standing up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harris throws a big elbow that misses.
Harris landing some decent shots from guard.
Askren wants to stand up but Harris is controlling him.
Askren wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Askren bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Harris's guard.


Askren drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Askren jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Askren gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Harris will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Askren closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Askren lands in his opponent's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Harris wants to stand up but Askren is controlling him.
Harris keeping moving, preventing Askren from controlling successfully.
Askren with a flurry of punches that miss.
Askren sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Askren won't allow Harris to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Askren trying to control but Harris is working from the bottom.
Askren is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Harris wants to stand up but Askren is controlling him.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Askren clinches.
Harris can't break the clinch.
Harris wants to break free but Askren has control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Askren has Harris pressed against the cage, preventing Harris from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Askren gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Harris pushes Askren off but Askren dives into side control.

Askren decides to stand back up.

Askren closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Askren can't get the takedown.
Askren is looking for a takedown.
Askren slowing the pace effectively.

Askren has hold of one of Harris's legs. Harris is fighting the takedown attempt but Askren gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Askren prevents Harris from getting back to his feet.
Askren trying to control the position from guard on top but Harris is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andy Askren dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Andy Askren's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Harris throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Askren dodges the punch combination from Harris.
Harris looks to land a combination but Askren avoids it well.
Askren doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Knees in the clinch landing for Askren.
Askren jumps guard but Harris turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Askren is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Askren holding his opponent close, against the cage.

Askren is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Harris is defending well.

Askren effectively controlling the action here.

Askren decides to pull guard.
Askren is trying to control the position but Harris postures up.
Harris scoring with punches to the head and body.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Askren striking off his back but it's not causing Harris any problems.
Harris distracts Askren with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Harris wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Askren's closed guard. He's half up but Askren has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Askren pivots and extends the arm, Harris falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Askren! Well done that man!
