Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Terry Contreras!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ivan Boychuk!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Contreras shoots in looking for a takedown but Boychuk manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Contreras's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Boychuk lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Contreras shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Boychuk rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Contreras moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
As Boychuk tries to get set, Contreras tries to push him back and clinch up but Boychuk manages to avoid the attempt.

Boychuk takes a swing at Contreras's ribcage but misses.
Contreras shoots for a double leg takedown but Boychuk sprawls well. He's pushed Contreras's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Contreras really is a fat lump.
Contreras fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Terry Contreras. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Boychuk clinches with his opponent.

Boychuk keeps Contreras at a distance using the push kick.
Boychuk throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

It looked like Contreras was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Contreras is defended easily by Boychuk.

Boychuk shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Boychuk showed some decent athleticism there.
Boychuk thows a huge punch but Contreras dodges it nicely.
Boychuk wants to stand but Contreras has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Contreras might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Contreras pushes Boychuk off looking to stand but Boychuk dives back in and keeps control.
Boychuk wants to stand up but Contreras has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Boychuk throws a strike but Contreras avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Boychuk wants to stand but Contreras has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boychuk throws a right hand that Contreras ducks under and follows up with a left that Contreras also avoids with ease.
Contreras misses with a takedown attempt
and Boychuk counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Boychuk is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Contreras is defending well for now.

Boychuk escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boychuk tries to land knees in the clinch but Contreras avoids the damage to the body.

Boychuk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Contreras shoots in for a takedown but Boychuk shows good takedown defense.

Boychuk is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Contreras's half guard.

Ivan Boychuk has got the better of the ground game so far.
Boychuk throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Contreras works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Contreras wants to stand up but Boychuk is controlling him.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Boychuk's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Boychuk lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Contreras at a distance.
Nice sprawl there from Boychuk as Contreras shoots in.

Boychuk has taken the fight to the clinch.
Boychuk lands a hook that snaps the head of Contreras backwards.
Boychuk misses with a knee strike.
Boychuk is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Contreras is defending well for now.

Contreras successfully pulls guard.
Boychuk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Contreras. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Boychuk is sitting in close to Contreras's body. Contreras has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Boychuk is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Boychuk is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Contreras.
