Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ronnie Darrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edward Wates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Edward Wates!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wates doesn't manage to clinch there - Darrow circles away.
Wates lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Wates shoots in and drives through. Darrow sprawls well.
Wates looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Darrow is fending him off so far but Wates persists. Nope, Darrow circles away and we're back to standing.
Darrow misses with a shot to the body
and Wates counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Wates takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Wates shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wates is looking to stall here but Darrow recovers full guard.

Darrow is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Wates is trying to control. Darrow wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Wates wants to free his trapped foot but Darrow is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Darrow on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Darrow has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Wates uses from the top position.
Darrow looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wates is one step ahead there.
Darrow is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Wates looking to sit in guard and control but Darrow gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Darrow stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wates swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Darrow postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Darrow tries to free his leg and advance position but Wates is retaining full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Darrow stays in close to Wates's body and controls the position.
Wates has momentary wrist control but Darrow slips an elbow through the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Darrow tests Wates's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Darrow closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Darrow pushes Wates back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Wates jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Darrow walks away with a smile on his face. Wates gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Wates blocks a head kick by Darrow.
And Wates tries to counter it with a takedown but Darrow pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Darrow scores with a nice strike.
Edward Wates is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Darrow throws a body shot but no joy.
Wates looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Darrow is fending him off so far but Wates persists. Nope, Darrow circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Darrow swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Wates closes the distance and clinches up with Darrow, looking for a takedown. Wates pushes Darrow against the cage but Darrow circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Darrow looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

Darrow connects with a leg kick. Wates looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

and Darrow counters with a straight right hand.
Wates is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Darrow gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Wates tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Darrow keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Wates's efforts to push away.
Darrow is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wates can do to turn this around?

Darrow jumps guard and drags Wates to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Darrow is looking for a triangle but Wates pushes his legs off easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wates trying to control the position from guard on top but Darrow is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Darrow swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Wates tries to counter by closing the distance.
Darrow lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Darrow.
Wates tries to work over Darrow's front leg with a kick but Darrow checks it.
Darrow throwing a counter right hand but Wates manages to avoid it.
Darrow shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Darrow was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Wates has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
You can see the frustration on Wates's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
We've been hearing that Darrow has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

That's time! Darrow's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Wates takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Darrow lands a slapping body shot.
Darrow is looking to wear down Wates with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Wates tries to score a power double leg takedown but Darrow sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Wates somewhat.

Wates throws a sloppy head kick
and Darrow makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Wates takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Darrow connects with a body shot that sends Wates's belly button to the back.
Wates is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Darrow, right into the meat.
Darrow scores with a jab. Wates acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Darrow jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Wates is rocked!
Wates fails with a takedown attempt.
It looked like Darrow wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Ronnie Darrow has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edward Wates.
Wates steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Darrow. That one must have hurt.
Ronnie Darrow is winning the standup battle so far.

Darrow lands a big right hand that sends Wates crashing to the mat! Darrow stays standing though and waves Wates back to his feet!
Wates is still on wobbly legs! Can Darrow finish him?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wates gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Darrow gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Wates is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
