The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sears gets caught napping as Jardim dives in and scores a takedown. Sears manages to retain guard.
Jardim won't allow Sears to get back to his feet.
Jardim is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Sears is trying to keep Jardim in close.
Jardim is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Sears wants to stand up but Jardim is controlling him.

It looks like Jardim might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Jardim has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Sears off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sears enables Jardim to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sears manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sears tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jardim swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jardim tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Jardim is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Sears's shoulder. That is not cool.

You can see the frustration on Sears's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
