PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Soto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Maverick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maverick has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Illya Tyunina and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maverick closes the distance and pushes Soto back into the cage.

Maverick is working an open guard so Soto takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Soto has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Soto seems to be working for a kimura but Maverick defends the submission attempt.

Soto is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Maverick sees it coming and defends easily.

Soto escapes and gets back to his feet.

Soto closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Maverick did well to prevent Soto getting side control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Maverick can do anything to dispel that myth.

Soto tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Soto has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Soto working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Soto is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Maverick doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Soto.
Maverick is looking for a sweep. Soto is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Soto connects with a nice short shot to Maverick's temple.
