PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robinson Crusoe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darby Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gordon has chosen United Booty Foundation as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Robinson Crusoe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darby Gordon!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crusoe looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gordon is fending him off so far but Crusoe persists. Nope, Gordon circles away and we're back to standing.
Gordon tries a head kick but it misses.
Gordon moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Crusoe misses with a takedown
and Gordon counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Crusoe avoids a kick to the body.
Crusoe shoots in for a takedown but Gordon shows good takedown defense.
Crusoe moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromGordon.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robinson Crusoe. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Crusoe bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Crusoe tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Crusoe has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Gordon regains half guard.

Crusoe winds up and cracks Gordon with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gordon is trying to maintain the position but Crusoe is very close to passing his half guard.
Crusoe prevents Gordon from improving his position.
Gordon makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gordon.
Crusoe is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Gordon is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Crusoe pulls his head out easily.
Crusoe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gordon keeps working.
Gordon is trying to get back to full guard.
Crusoe thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gordon's head.
Crusoe is pressing down on Gordon's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gordon is holding on for now.

Crusoe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gordon keeps working.

Gordon might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Crusoe haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Crusoe is nestled in close to Gordon, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

No joy there for Gordon, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Gordon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Crusoe tries to roll over but Gordon keeps him under control.

Gordon lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Gordon is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Crusoe has managed to free his arm - good work.

Gordon is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Crusoe defends it well.

Gordon throws an elbow that misses. Crusoe uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gordon's guard. Nice move by Crusoe!


Gordon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Crusoe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gordon is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Crusoe defends well.

Darby Gordon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Gordon bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Crusoe's head.

Crusoe changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Gordon had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Crusoe defends it easily.

Gordon is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
