Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benton Carroll (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny McGrath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGrath has chosen "I would walk 500 miles" - Proclaimers as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Colin Fotheringham and James Ackerman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carroll gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows McGrath to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Carroll is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. McGrath presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Carroll works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Carroll drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but McGrath manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Carroll has McGrath in his guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Carroll seems keen to control McGrath's posture.
McGrath wants to stand but Carroll has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Carroll is looking to stand up but McGrath isn't so interested in that idea.
Carroll is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Carroll pulls McGrath in close to prevent any damage.

Carroll wants to stand but McGrath is controlling the position.

Carroll is working an open guard so McGrath takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

McGrath pushes Carroll up against the cage in a clinch.
McGrath is trying to break free.
Carroll drops to a knee looking for a takedown but McGrath gets the underhooks and prevents it.

McGrath breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

McGrath darts in and clinches Carroll up against the cage.
Carroll jumps guard but McGrath turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Carroll dodges an elbow strike from McGrath.
McGrath prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Benton Carroll. That's going to take a lot out of him.

McGrath escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
McGrath scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
McGrath lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Carroll ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Carroll no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McGrath stands and steps away. Carroll gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

McGrath shoots in and gets a takedown into Carroll's guard.

McGrath tries to free his leg and advance position but Carroll is retaining full guard.

McGrath drops back looking for a leg! Carroll is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Carroll manages to kick McGrath off! McGrath jumps back into Carroll's guard.

McGrath won't allow Carroll to get back to his feet.
McGrath wanted to stand there but Carroll had control of the position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Carroll utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
McGrath works over Carroll with some ground and pound from guard.

McGrath gets to his feet - Carroll follows without any prompting.
McGrath will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Carroll throws a sloppy head kick and McGrath moves out of range easily.

McGrath shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than McGrath was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Carroll struggling a bit here.
McGrath is looking to take a break and control but Carroll is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Carroll can't do much from the bottom here.
McGrath works to advance to full mount. Carroll defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Carroll is trying desperately to improve position.

McGrath has control of Carroll's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Carroll regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Carroll slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny McGrath dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

McGrath waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Carroll.
Carroll throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
It seemed like McGrath was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Excellent takedown into side control there by McGrath.

Carroll explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

and Carroll counters with a series of strikes. McGrath will be more careful next time no doubt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

McGrath clinches.

Carroll successfully pulls guard.
Carroll has a closed guard, preventing McGrath from standing up.
McGrath prevents Carroll from getting back to his feet.
McGrath tries to stand but Carroll is controlling from the bottom.
McGrath throws a big elbow that misses.

McGrath stands up over Carroll, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

McGrath gets to his feet. Carroll looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

McGrath darts in and clinches Carroll up against the cage.
Carroll blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
McGrath gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
McGrath throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Carroll gets control of McGrath's arms and successfully pulls guard. Carroll will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

McGrath gets to his feet. Carroll looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Carroll throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
McGrath lands a glancing blow to the side of Carroll's head.

Carroll is rocked!

McGrath clinches up with Carroll and pushes him back against the cage.

Carroll pulls guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

McGrath decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Carroll, up you get!

Carroll looks to land a body kick but McGrath moved away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McGrath looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Carroll has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. McGrath has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Oh Carroll is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A body shot lands from McGrath.
McGrath lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

McGrath breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

McGrath is looking for a takedown. Wow, that's a brutal slam - Carroll is in big trouble! McGrath is landing strikes from the mount and this one is all over! The ref jumps in to save a confused looking Carroll. Poor guy.
