PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sammie Sears (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uriah Cambridge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cambridge has chosen Lethal Bizzle - Pow as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sammie Sears!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Uriah Cambridge!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Richard Clark and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cambridge gets tackled into the cage by Sears. Sears maintains the clinch.
Cambridge wants to break the clinch but can't.

Cambridge ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Cambridge no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Cambridge is working an open guard so Sears takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Sears instigates a clinch.

Cambridge lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Sears is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cambridge's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cambridge's back!

Sears has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Cambridge has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Sears has got his arm under Cambridge's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Cambridge has spun round into Sears's guard beautifully! Well done that man!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sears throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Sears manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cambridge manages to get himself to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cambridge has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Sears has passed into side control.

Sears working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Sears stands up.

Cambridge moves into the clinch.

Cambridge manages to pull guard.
Sears postures up in Cambridge's guard and throws a big left but Cambridge blocks it.
Sears is looking to stand up but Cambridge won't let him.

Cambridge has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Sears has passed into side control.

Sears cracks Cambridge with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Sears tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Sears tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sears has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Cambridge wants to control but Sears postures up.
Sears is chipping away with strikes.

Sears is trying to get an arm triangle but Cambridge is defending well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sears cracks Cambridge with a big elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Cambridge pulls guard effortlessly.
Sears cracks Cambridge with a solid left hand.

Cambridge has an active guard here but Sears has managed to pass into half guard.
Cambridge wants to control but Sears is keeping busy.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Cambridge wants to break the clinch but can't.

Cambridge has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Sears is trying to keep an underhook but Cambridge manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Sears is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cambridge can do to turn this around?
The fighters are battling for position here. Sears manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Cambridge won't allow Sears to sweep him here.

Sears is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Cambridge presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Cambridge decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Cambridge closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Cambridge is trying to break the clinch but Sears has him pressed against the cage.
Sears looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Cambridge wants to break the clinch but can't.

Sears manages to break the clinch.

Sears pushes Cambridge up against the cage in a clinch.
Sears with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Sears working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Cambridge's head.

Sears stands and steps away. Cambridge gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Cambridge is breathing heavily.
Sears doesn't manage to clinch there - Cambridge circles away.

Cambridge fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sears to the ground. Cambridge is now in Sears's guard.

Sears has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Cambridge off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cambridge gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Sears manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Sears looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cambridge is one step ahead there.
Cambridge postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Cambridge unloads a knee to the mid-section. Sears lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Cambridge pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Sears clinches up against the cage.
Sears is pushing Cambridge up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Sears working hard to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cambridge is trying to force a seperation but Sears has the dominant position.

Sears manages to pull guard.

Sears looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sears wants to sweep but no luck.
Sears will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Cambridge throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sears works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Cambridge makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Cambridge gets to his feet - Sears follows without any prompting.

Cambridge changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sears looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Sears is trying to control Cambridge's posture but Cambridge avoids it.

Cambridge working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Sears tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cambridge wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Cambridge prevents Sears from escaping the position.
Sears is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Sears is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Cambridge off and has taken his back!

Sears is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Cambridge is defending well though. Sears let's go of the attempt for now.
Cambridge wants to control his opponent's hands but Sears gets his hands free.

Cambridge is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Cambridge is covering up but some of the strikes from Sears are getting through and doing damage.
Cambridge rolls, trying to escape but Sears keeps control of the position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sears, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
