Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Melvin Morris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Rasmussen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Melvin Morris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Christian Rasmussen!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Eddie Farnsworth and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morris throws a right hand that Rasmussen ducks under and follows up with a left that Rasmussen also avoids with ease.
Rasmussen is looking for the big counter here.
Morris misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Rasmussen counters with a nice uppercut.
Rasmussen throws a head kick that Morris semi-blocks.
Morris connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Morris swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Rasmussen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Morris with a poor takedown
enabling Rasmussen to counter with a crisp jab.
Morris shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rasmussen as he jumps to the side.
Despite the aggression on Rasmussen's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Morris darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

We've been hearing good reports from Morris's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Morris is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rasmussen doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Morris.

Rasmussen felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Morris seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Rasmussen is refusing to be controlled, as Morris sits in half guard.
Morris thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Morris is trying to work for a kimura but Rasmussen is defending well.
Rasmussen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Rasmussen is looking to stand up but Morris isn't so interested in that idea.

Morris drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rasmussen dives on top into guard.

Rasmussen won't allow Morris to sweep him here.

Morris has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Rasmussen doesn't defend quickly enough and Morris has managed to lock this one up! Can Rasmussen escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Morris on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Melvin Morris!
A relieved looking Melvin Morris thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
