Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jarvis Chapman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Clayborne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phil Clayborne is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jarvis Chapman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Phil Clayborne!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clayborne wants to clinch.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Clayborne.
Clayborne throws a left that rocks Chapman and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Clayborne dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Chapman regain composure!


It looks like Jarvis Chapman has been cut.
Chapman is looking for a sweep.
Chapman is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Clayborne off and has taken his back!
Chapman biding his time, controlling Clayborne.
Chapman tries to keep control of the position but Clayborne is staying busy.

Clayborne turns into Chapman and is now in his guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Chapman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Clayborne manages to get himself to full guard.
Chapman stays in close to Clayborne's body and controls the position.
Chapman stands and throws Clayborne's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Clayborne is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Clayborne wants to get back to striking at distance but Chapman won't allow it.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Chapman uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Clayborne.
Clayborne dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Phil Clayborne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Clayborne tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Chapman was well out of range. Poor timing from Clayborne.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clayborne is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Chapman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

No joy there for Clayborne, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Clayborne throws the left hand but Chapman avoids the punch easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
