Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andy Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andy Askren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andrew Pain!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Michael Johnstone and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askren tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pain swivels and escapes.

Askren rushes Pain and presses him up against the cage.

Askren ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Askren no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Pain is looking to work some ground and pound but Askren has wrist control.
Askren trying to keep a closed guard but Pain is proving a slippery customer.

Pain has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Pain keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Askren's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Askren wants to control the pace but Pain is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Askren throws a right hand that Pain ducks under and follows up with a left that Pain also avoids with ease.
And Pain tries to counter it with a takedown but Askren pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Pain tries to keep at a distance but Askren has taken the fight into the clinch.

Askren has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Pain clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Askren is trying to stick to Pain's back but Pain is turning into Askren. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Askren's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Pain.

Askren has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pain can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Pain is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Pain wants to pass the guard but Askren is keeping the position.
Pain is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Askren had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pain defends it easily.

Askren on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Askren tries to get out of the position.
Pain seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Askren wants to stand but Pain is controlling the position.

Pain winds up and cracks Askren with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Pain scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Pain has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Pain dives in and grabs Askren's left leg, looking for a takedown. Askren pushes down on Pain's head and hops out.
