PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dwain Brewer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Peacock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dwain Brewer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Robert Peacock!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Phil Schofield and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brewer takes a swing at Peacock's ribcage but misses.
Brewer shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Peacock eats them both and turns towards Brewer to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Peacock tries to close the distance and clinch but Brewer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Peacock chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Brewer can pounce on him.

Peacock closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Brewer to the mat! Brewer manages to get full guard.
Brewer wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Peacock manages to pass to side control.

Peacock is trying to control the action in half guard but Brewer is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Peacock throwing shots but Brewer is blocking nicely.
Brewer scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Peacock manages to mount him!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Peacock trying to control but Brewer is having none of it.
Peacock is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brewer tries to reverse the position but Peacock maintains control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Peacock with a couple of short strikes.
Peacock is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Brewer is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Peacock has taken his back!
Brewer takes a big shot to the side of the head.

Peacock is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Brewer has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Brewer could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Brewer is keeping busy.
Brewer wants to get back to his feet.

Brewer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Peacock on the ground.
Brewer grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Brewer is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Peacock.

Peacock uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Brewer.
No joy there for Brewer, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Brewer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Peacock circles away quickly and effectively.
Peacock wants to counter with a clinch but Brewer pushes him away.
Brewer tries to clinch up but Peacock circles away and keeps his distance.
Peacock throws a push kick but Brewer slaps the foot to one side.
Peacock moves in looking to clinch but Brewer pushes him off.
Peacock tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Brewer is able to avoid easily.

Peacock is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Brewer's half guard.

Peacock is working for a kimura here but Brewer manages to reverse the position and he's now in Peacock's guard.
Brewer in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Brewer decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Peacock, up you get!
A jab from Brewer misses.
Peacock drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Brewer defends it well.
A telegraphed right hand from Brewer misses the target.
Peacock tries to clinch up but Brewer circles away and keeps his distance.
Peacock swats away the attempt to clinch by Brewer.

Brewer moves into the clinch successfully.
Brewer tries for a takedown but Peacock manages to get underhooks.

Peacock successfully pulls guard.
Robert Peacock has got the better of the ground game so far.
Brewer has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Peacock is proving hard to escape from.

Brewer decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Peacock, up you get!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fight stays on the outside here - Peacock looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Brewer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Peacock but Peacock pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dwain Brewer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A head kick misses from Brewer.
Peacock with the counter takedown but Brewer avoids it easily.
Peacock doesn't manage to clinch there - Brewer circles away.
Brewer throws a series of punches but Peacock avoids them all with ease.

Peacock shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Brewer napping and manages to drive through into side control!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Peacock is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Brewer has escaped the position, nice work there.

Peacock moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Peacock has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Brewer!
Peacock landing strikes from the mount and Brewer is in trouble!
Peacock blocks Brewer's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Brewer is bucking up trying to escape but Peacock cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Peacock has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Robert Peacock showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Brewer throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Peacock.
Peacock tries to close the distance and clinch but Brewer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Peacock is standing up over Brewer. Brewer looks to escape but Peacock dives into side control.

Peacock has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Peacock tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Peacock has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Brewer tries to control but Peacock manages to take his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peacock is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Peacock lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Peacock.
Peacock has the hooks in. Brewer is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Peacock slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Peacock's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
