Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Renzoi Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Freitag (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Freitag's choice of entrance music: Limp Bizkit - Break stuff. Renzoi Gracie has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Renzoi Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Freitag!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, John Kavanagh and Jorge Garcia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Freitag as Gracie shoots in.
Gracie avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Gracie tries to clinch up.
Freitag shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gracie as he avoids it easily.

Freitag scores with a takedown into Gracie's guard.
Freitag loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Gracie lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Freitag told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Gracie throws a strike but Freitag rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Freitag lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Freitag stands and throws Gracie's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Freitag trying to control the position but Gracie is working away.
Freitag looks up at the clock and then as Gracie takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Freitag smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Gracie tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Freitag stands up.
Freitag connects with a body shot.
Gracie is looking to clinch.
Gracie tries to clinch but Freitag moves out of range.
We've been told by Gracie's head coaches at V C L training center (HOME OF THE TRUE CHAMPION that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Freitag looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Gracie wants to improve his position but Freitag is controlling well.
Freitag working the head and body with strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Freitag drops an elbow to the side of Gracie's head.
Gracie trying to control but Freitag postures up.
Freitag throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Freitag working over Gracie with some ground and pound. Gracie looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Gracie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Freitag pulls his head out easily.
Freitag lands with a punch from half guard.
Gracie is trying to maintain the position but Freitag is very close to passing his half guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Freitag looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gracie with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Freitag slips a nice elbow through Gracie's hands, connecting with Gracie's forehead.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gracie wants to improve his position but Freitag is controlling well.
Freitag landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Gracie is rocked!

Freitag decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Freitag throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gracie was covering up waiting for the punch and Freitag finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Oh Gracie is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Freitag working some strikes from top position.

Gracie is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Freitag is aware though and is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie is breathing heavily.
Gracie lands a decent shot there.

Gracie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Freitag can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Gracie seems to have got his legs back now.
Freitag postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Freitag trying to control the position from guard on top but Gracie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gracie can't keep his opponent in guard - Freitag advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Freitag is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Gracie is hurt! He's hurt bad - Freitag fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Gracie from any more punishment! Congratulations to Freitag! Great finish!

After the fight, Mike Freitag was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
