The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKenzie throws a looping overhand right but Duncan ducks down to avoid it.
It looked like Duncan was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

McKenzie shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Duncan napping and manages to drive through into side control!

McKenzie stands up.
Duncan throws a hook but McKenzie avoids it easily.
Duncan dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Duncan gets caught flat footed, as McKenzie shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

McKenzie decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Duncan, up you get!
Duncan circles away from the clinch attempt.

McKenzie shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Duncan is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McKenzie tries to pass to full mount but Duncan defends it.
Oh Duncan is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

McKenzie postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Duncan to stand up.

McKenzie is looking for a takedown. Wow, that's a brutal slam - Duncan is in big trouble! McKenzie is landing strikes from the mount and this one is all over! The ref jumps in to save a confused looking Duncan. Poor guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Cody McKenzie !
Cody McKenzie was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
