Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Battou Marques!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricardinho Gabriel!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Alexandre Firmino and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gabriel changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Marques tries to avoid it but Gabriel manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Marques to the ground. Marques escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Marques keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Gabriel feints and as Marques raises his hands in defense, Gabriel changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gabriel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marques swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gabriel sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Marques's guard.
Gabriel seems to be looking for submissions.
Gabriel tries to pass to full mount but Marques defends it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gabriel takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gabriel is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Marques is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ricardinho Gabriel!
