The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spumanti shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gastelum pinned against the cage. Gastelum gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gastelum lands a jab-cross combination.
Gastelum digs a good body shot into Spumanti's ribs.
Uriah Gastelum seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A jab from Spumanti misses.
Donk. Gastelum catches Spumanti right on the button with a cross.
Spumanti takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Spumanti on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Gastelum moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

and Gastelum counters with a stiff right hand.

Gastelum wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Gastelum throws a series of strikes that have Spumanti backpedaling.
Spumanti on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Gastelum slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gastelum feints a jab promting Spumanti to slip. Gastelum then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Spumanti slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Spumanti takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Gastelum throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Gastelum connects with the punch.
Gastelum steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Spumanti.
Gastelum tests Spumanti's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Gastelum lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Gastelum's corner calls for a 1-2. Gastelum obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Spumanti doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Gastelum comes in over the top with a devastating right hand! Spumanti stumbles back against the cage, looking to regain his senses but Gastelum is on him like rabid pit bull! Spumanti slumps to the ground under a storm of punches and this fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Uriah Gastelum!
