PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Arman Shaker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dillon Weber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weber has chosen ruff ryders' anthem as his entrance music. Arman Shaker had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Arman Shaker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 53 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dillon Weber!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Ben Zyskovitsi and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body kick from Shaker.
Weber closes the distance looking to clinch
and Shaker counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Weber walks into a jab.
Weber misses with a jab, cross combination.
Shaker was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Weber misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Weber tries to close the distance and clinch but Shaker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Shaker throws a quick counter head kick but Weber was just out of range.
Weber darts in trying to clinch
and Shaker counters with a left to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Weber throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Shaker counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Shaker clinches up against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Shaker.
Shaker is pushing Weber up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shaker lands a nice uppercut.
Shaker lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Weber or not.
The referee calls for Shaker to work.
Shaker lands a body shot in the clinch.
Shaker lands a good knee to the midsection. Weber won't want to take too many of those.
Shaker scores with a shot to the side of Weber's head.
Shaker unloads a knee to the mid-section. Weber lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Shaker lands a hook that snaps the head of Weber backwards.
A right hand to the body from Shaker.
Shaker lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Weber backwards.

Shaker pulls Weber into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Shaker has Weber pulled in close to control his posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shaker looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Weber is fighting to break Shaker's control of his arms but Shaker is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Shaker bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Weber's guard.

Weber really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shaker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shaker working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Shaker is working Weber over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Shaker controlling from the top position.
Weber wants to stand and escape but Shaker is having none of it.

Shaker's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Shaker's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Shaker postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Shaker throwing strikes from guard but Weber blocks nicely.
Shaker slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Shaker postures up and lands a big shot to Weber's brow.
Shaker sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Weber's guard.
Shaker winds up and cracks Weber with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Shaker has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Shaker looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Weber with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Shaker is taking a breather. Weber says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Shaker continues to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Arman Shaker dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Weber on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Shaker. Shaker obviously looking to wear him down.
Weber has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Weber takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Shaker scores with a push kick.
Shaker throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Weber crumples to the floor and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Arman Shaker!
Dillon Weber was interviewed post fight and said 'Thanks for coming'.
