Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jospeh Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aslanbek Kiruev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kiruev is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Adiga. Aslanbek Kiruev is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jospeh Perry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aslanbek Kiruev!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perry showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kiruev.
Kiruev misses with the combination.
Kiruev throws a right and a left that both miss.

Perry looking to score a takedown here. Kiruev is defending well but Perry drives through and ends up in Kiruev's guard.
Kiruev is wriggling around but Perry manages to pass to half guard.


Perry is looking for a kimura here.

Perry escapes and gets back to his feet.
Kiruev misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kiruev misses with a series of wild punches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A head kick misses from Perry.
Perry avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kiruev fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kiruev looks winded!
Perry will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Perry shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Kiruev wants to get back to his feet but Perry passes into half guard.


Perry is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kiruev sees it coming and defends easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Perry decides to stand up.
Perry really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kiruev misses with the combination.
Aslanbek Kiruev is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Perry gets the takedown into side control.

Kiruev throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Kiruev's coach down at Atlas MMA Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Kiruev's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kiruev has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Perry.

Perry instigates a clinch.
Perry has Kiruev pressed against the cage.

Perry jumps guard.

Perry kicks Kiruev off and gets to his feet.

Perry closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kiruev did well to prevent Perry getting side control.

Kiruev throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Perry counters by clinching up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Perry has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kiruev avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Perry successfully pulls guard.
Kiruev wants to stand but Perry has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Perry wriggles free and stands up.
Kiruev fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Perry rushes Kiruev and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Perry.

Perry drags the fight down to the ground.
Perry lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Perry stands and steps away. Kiruev gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Perry shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Kiruev wants to get back to his feet but Perry passes into half guard.


Perry is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jospeh Perry will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Kiruev tries to bum rush Perry with a series of wild strikes but Perry uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Perry tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Kiruev manages to circle out of the way.

Perry has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kiruev working hard to break the clinch.
Perry keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kiruev's efforts to push away.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Kiruev.

Perry decides to pull guard.
Kiruev wants to stand but Perry has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kiruev decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Kiruev is breathing heavily.
Perry misses with a body shot.
Aslanbek Kiruev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kiruev throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Perry crashing down! Perry tries to stagger back to his feet but Kiruev just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Perry asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Aslanbek Kiruev!
Aslanbek Kiruev seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
