PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Bryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rory Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rory Anderson struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 146.0lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aaron Bryan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rory Anderson !
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bryan lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Bryan.
Bryan definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Anderson shoots in and bounces Bryan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Anderson content to stall in guard here.
Bryan wants to get back to his feet but Anderson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Bryan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bryan keeping moving, preventing Anderson from controlling successfully.

Bryan has his foot on Anderson 's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Anderson works his way back into a safe position though.

Anderson connects with a couple of short punches.
Bryan is trying to keep Anderson in close.
Anderson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Bryan looking for a sweep. Not yet Bryan, not yet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Anderson wants to control from the top but Bryan keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Anderson throws an overhand right that lands on Bryan's shoulder, as Bryan tries to avoid the shot.
Horrible takedown attempt by Bryan or perhaps it was just good defense by Anderson , which made it look bad.

Anderson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Anderson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bryan is not content to let Anderson control the position.
Bryan manages to work his way to half guard, despite Anderson 's best efforts.
Bryan wants to control but Anderson is keeping busy.
Anderson tries to stand but can't do so whilst Bryan controls his leg.
Anderson passes to side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Anderson decides to stand back up.

Anderson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bryan's half guard.
Bryan tries to kick Anderson off in order to stand up. Anderson Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Anderson trying to control the action but Bryan is working from the bottom.
Anderson slows the pace down.
Bryan wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bryan tries to buck Anderson off but Anderson is having none of it.
Bryan is trying to control Anderson 's posture but Anderson avoids it.
Anderson in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Bryan is not content to let Anderson control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Anderson is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rory Anderson dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Anderson shoots for a takedown but Bryan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Anderson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bryan circles away.
Bryan wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Anderson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Anderson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Anderson advances position into side control!
Bryan wants to control but Anderson postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Anderson cracks Bryan with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Anderson has hold of Bryan's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Bryan seems comfortable defending it but Anderson has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Bryan is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Bryan is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Anderson couldn't care less - he's delighted!
