The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Charles has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Dean is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Dean has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Charles avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Charles lands with an uppercut that bounces Dean off the cage and back into range.
Dean has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Charles.

Dean has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Charles closes the distance and pushes Dean back into the cage.

Charles will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Dean up against the cage.

Charles tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Charles's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Dean has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Charles can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Dean has his foot on Charles's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Charles works his way back into a safe position though.
Charles would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Dean working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Charles doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Charles manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Charles has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Dean postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Charles is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dean, into his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jamaal Charles is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Charles seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Well Charles has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
