PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Clarke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evgeni Elkemenchi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jacob Clarke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Evgeni Elkemenchi!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Franklyn Lucas and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elkemenchi moves in looking to clinch but Clarke pushes him off.
Clarke fires out a quick counter leg kick but Elkemenchi just manages to avoid it.
Clarke misses with a left hand

and Elkemenchi counters with a single leg into guard. Clarke didn't expect that.

Clarke pushes Elkemenchi off and gets back to his feet.
Elkemenchi is trying hard to land a takedown here. Clarke sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Elkemenchi shoots in for a takedown but Clarke shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Clarke jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Clarke clinches up against the cage.
Clarke goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Clarke misses with an elbow strike.
Clarke swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Clarke tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Elkemenchi avoids it.
Clarke tries to break the clinch but Elkemenchi is controlling the position.
Clarke is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Elkemenchi is defending well for now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Clarke has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Elkemenchi goes for a takedown attempt but Clarke pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jacob Clarke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Evgeni Elkemenchi.

It looks like Evgeni Elkemenchi has been cut.

Clarke goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Clarke scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Elkemenchi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Clarke as he avoids it easily.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Clarke has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Clarke wants to control from the top but Elkemenchi keeps moving.
Clarke sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Elkemenchi's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Clarke is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Clarke is working Elkemenchi over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Clarke won't allow Elkemenchi to get back to his feet.
Elkemenchi has his hands on Clarke's head, controlling the position.
Clarke postures up in Elkemenchi's guard and throws a big left but Elkemenchi blocks it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Clarke's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

We've been hearing good reports from Clarke's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Clarke in particular looking to stall.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

and Clarke counters with a straight right hand.
Horrible takedown attempt by Elkemenchi or perhaps it was just good defense by Clarke, which made it look bad.
Clarke is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Elkemenchi.

Clarke is fighting off a takedown attempt but Elkemenchi is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Clarke to the mat. Clarke regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Clarke is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Elkemenchi can do to turn this around?

Clarke has his foot on Elkemenchi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Elkemenchi works his way back into a safe position though.

Evgeni Elkemenchi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Clarke has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
