PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Donald Munro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Petrovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Donald Munro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Scott Petrovic!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Paul Tew and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrovic tries to clinch up but Munro circles away and keeps his distance.
Munro jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Petrovic shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Munro manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Munro is trying to keep Petrovic in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Munro wants to stand up but Petrovic is controlling him.
Munro is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Petrovic with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Petrovic is looking to work some ground and pound but Munro has wrist control.
Munro will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Munro controls Petrovic momentarily but Petrovic frees himself.
Munro is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Petrovic is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Petrovic lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Munro wants to stand and escape but Petrovic is having none of it.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Petrovic working his ground and pound in the gym.
Munro is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Petrovic with a flurry of punches that miss.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Munro misses the shot to the body.
Munro connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Munro misses with a jab, cross combination.

Munro scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Petrovic doesn't seem bothered though.
Petrovic looks winded!
Munro throws a body punch but Petrovic moves out of range.

Petrovic rushes Munro and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Petrovic creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Munro is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Munro wants to break free but Petrovic has control.

Petrovic lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Munro looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Munro is trying to stand up here but Petrovic is controlling him well.
Munro is pressing down on Petrovic's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Petrovic has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Munro is trying to maintain a safe position but Petrovic gets an underhook and turns Munro into the cage.
Munro really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Petrovic drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Munro is trying to stall.
Munro misses with a hook to the ribs.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Munro is trying to break free.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Munro.
Munro is trying to maintain a safe position but Petrovic gets an underhook and turns Munro into the cage.
Petrovic is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Munro gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Scott Petrovic will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Petrovic shoots for a double leg takedown but Munro sprawls well. He's pushed Petrovic's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Munro pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Petrovic back to the cage. Munro follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


It looks like Scott Petrovic has been cut.
Munro scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Munro thuds a left hand into Petrovic's body.
Munro is looking to wear down Petrovic with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Good shot there by Munro.
Munro fails to land with a series of punches.
Petrovic walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Munro pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Petrovic back to the cage. Munro follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Petrovic on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Munro scores with a hook to the body. Petrovic takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Munro lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Petrovic tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Petrovic is breathing heavily.

Petrovic drops his hands momentarily and Munro takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Petrovic takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Petrovic shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
An inside leg kick lands from Munro.
Munro pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Petrovic back to the cage. Munro follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.


Petrovic is rocked!
Munro bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Petrovic's head backwards.
Petrovic is still on wobbly legs! Can Munro finish him?
Munro gets in close and tags Petrovic with a short punch that almost sends Petrovic to the mat! Oh Petrovic is in big trouble! He turns his back on Munro, trying to create some distance but Munro rushes him, striking wildly and Petrovic goes down! The referee tackles Munro into the cage to end the fight! Munro is one violent man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Donald Munro!
