Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Grant Hayes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Peacock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robert Peacock is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Grant Hayes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Robert Peacock!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, William Gold and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hayes gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Hayes doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Peacock's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Hayes clinches.

Hayes manages to pull guard.
Peacock wants to control from the top but Hayes keeps moving.
Hayes wants to stand but Peacock is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hayes is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peacock trying to control the position from guard on top but Hayes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Peacock working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Peacock looking to sit in guard and control but Hayes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hayes working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Peacock's head.
Hayes is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Hayes has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hayes trying to stand up but can't free himself from Peacock's guard.
Hayes chips away with some ground and pound.
Peacock is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Peacock lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Peacock looks winded!

Hayes has a closed guard, preventing Peacock from standing up.
Hayes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Peacock pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hayes is keeping the position for now.
Hayes looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Hayes wants to stand up but Peacock is controlling him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hayes pulls Peacock in close to prevent any damage.

Peacock got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hayes has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Peacock has managed to get both his arms back between Hayes's legs - danger averted.

Hayes looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hayes is looking to stand up but Peacock isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hayes closes the distance and clinches.
Hayes is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Peacock gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Peacock gets control of Hayes's arms and successfully pulls guard. Peacock will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Hayes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hayes decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Hayes clinches.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hayes pulls guard successfully.
Peacock passes into half guard.
Peacock stops Hayes from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Grant Hayes dominated that round.
That's time! Hayes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Hayes closes the distance and clinches.

Hayes is trying to trip Peacock. He has hold of a leg but Peacock is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Hayes persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Peacock wants to get back to his feet but Hayes passes into half guard.


Hayes is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Peacock sees it coming and defends easily.
Peacock keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peacock is looking for a sweep. Hayes is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Hayes takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Peacock gets back to full guard.
Peacock is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Peacock has a closed guard, preventing Hayes from standing up.

Hayes stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Hayes shoots in but Peacock avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Peacock throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hayes was covering up waiting for the punch and Peacock finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Hayes pushes Peacock off and scrambles back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hayes has closed the distance and engaged Peacock in a clinch.
Peacock scores a nice knee to the body.
Hayes throws a head punch that misses.

Peacock is trying to trip Hayes. He has hold of a leg but Hayes is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Peacock persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Hayes wriggles free and stands up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hayes moves into range and clinches up with Peacock.

Hayes jumps guard and drags Peacock to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hayes is pulling down on Peacock's head. It's preventing any offense from Peacock, at least for the moment.

Peacock postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hayes is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Peacock, into his guard.


Hayes gets to his feet. Peacock looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hayes clinches with his opponent.

Hayes is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Peacock can't fight it off and eventually Hayes manages to take the fight to the floor. Peacock looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hayes chips away with some ground and pound.
Hayes tries to stand but Peacock is controlling from the bottom.
Peacock looking to control.
Hayes landing some decent shots from guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Grant Hayes dominated that second round.
That's time! Hayes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Robert Peacock seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Peacock throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hayes was covering up waiting for the punch and Peacock finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Hayes seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hayes has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hayes looking for a triangle here. Peacock is fighting it but it looks tight! Hayes pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Peacock is tapping out - this one is all over!
