The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ionel checks a leg kick.
Basil throws a body kick that misses.
Basil tries to clinch there but Ionel circles away.
Basil avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Ionel avoids a kick to the body.
Basil tries to land a leg kick but Ionel saw it coming and moves away.
Ionel swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Ionel counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Basil tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ionel swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Calvin Basil seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ionel fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Basil looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Basil lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Ionel has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Ionel and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Basil throws a head kick but Ionel moves out of range.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Basil gets a clinch.
Ionel takes an elbow to the temple.
Ionel throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Basils head.

Basil has Ionel pressed against the cage, preventing Ionel from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Ionel lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Ionel goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Ionel lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Basil throws an elbow that misses.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Ionel takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Basil throws a knee to the head but misses.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Basil.
Basil throws a head kick that misses.
A little feinted left hand from Ionel on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
A head kick misses from Basil.
Basil tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Ionel cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Ionel works Basil's body with a nice hook.
Basil looks winded!
Basil gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Ionel gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Basil is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
