Mayo has chosen Super Furry Animals - Golden Retriever as his entrance music. Chris Mayo acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jannis Arvanitidis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 35 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Chris Mayo!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayo throws a leg kick but Arvanitidis checks it.
Arvanitidis looks to land a combination but Mayo avoids it well.
Mayo wants to counter with a clinch but Arvanitidis pushes him away.
Arvanitidis shoots in for a double leg but Mayo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mayo takes one on the button.
Mayo throws a body punch but Arvanitidis moves out of range.
Mayo lands the left hand.
Arvanitidis takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Arvanitidis misses with a straight left.
Mayo looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Arvanitidis loads up on a big right hand but Mayo slips the punch.
Mayo walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Arvanitidis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mayo's waist but Mayo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Arvanitidis off to one side.
Mayo dips to his left and cracks Arvanitidis with an uppercut!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Arvanitidis avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Arvanitidis has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Vicious Striking in the buildup to the fight.
Arvanitidis looks for a takedown but Mayo sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jannis Arvanitidis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A chopping leg kick lands by Mayo.
Arvanitidis throws a poor cross that misses

and Mayo counters by clinching up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mayo lands a right hand that snaps the head of Arvanitidis backwards.
Come on Mayo - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Arvanitidis lands with a left to the head.
Mayo using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Arvanitidis has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Arvanitidis wants to get back to striking at distance but Mayo won't allow it.
Still in the clinch, Mayo scores with a nice short uppercut.

Arvanitidis gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Arvanitidis frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Mayo is in all sorts of trouble here.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Arvanitidis cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mayo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Arvanitidis fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Arvanitidis breaks from Mayo's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Arvanitidis trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Mayo tries to hold on but Arvanitidis postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Arvanitidis working for a submission but Mayo is keeping him at bay.
Arvanitidis is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mayo can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


Mayo is rocked!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mayo takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Arvanitidis's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jannis Arvanitidis!
After the big win, Jannis Arvanitidis made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors Mystic Clothing and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
