Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shane Carwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sebastian Mercy!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Steve Montenegro and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercy shoots in and bounces Carwin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Mercy advances position into side control!
Mercy misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Mercy lands a few punches from side control.
Carwin tries to improve position but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mercy working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Mercy misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Carwin is looking to reverse the position.
Carwin can't do much from the bottom here.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mercy looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Carwin is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Carwin could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Carwin is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mercy asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mercy fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mercy scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Mercy looks gassed!
Carwin clobbers Mercy with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
It looks like Sebastian Mercy has been cut.
A left lands for Carwin.
Carwin slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Carwin tries to clinch there but Mercy circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carwin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
The fighters circle momentarily. Carwin darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Carwin throws a nice looking combination but Mercy bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Carwin.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Carwin decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Carwin with a nice cross.
Carwin moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Carwin connects with a body shot.
Mercy walks into a straight right hand from Carwin.
Mercy on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Carwin scores with a punch to the head.
Mercy walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Carwin digs a good body shot into Mercy's ribs.

Carwin avoids the body shot from Mercy.
Carwin lands a glancing blow to the side of Mercy's head.
Carwin is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Carwin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carwin scores with a three punch combo!
Mercy shoots for a double leg takedown but Carwin sprawls well. He's pushed Mercy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Carwin shoots in and bounces Mercy off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Mercy has his foot on Carwin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carwin works his way back into a safe position though.

Mercy is looking to sweep but instead, Carwin has passed into half guard.
Carwin wants to stand but Mercy has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are battling for position here. Mercy manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Mercy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Carwin's guard.
Mercy wants to pass the guard but Carwin is keeping the position.
Mercy thows a big elbow that misses.
Mercy postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carwin wants to get back to his feet but Mercy is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Mercy passes Carwin's left leg - he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shane Carwin dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Sebastian Mercy's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
A combination from Mercy does no damage.
Carwin is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Carwin lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Carwin throws out a powerful jab.
Good standup being displayed there by Carwin as he connects with a hook.
Carwin throws a combination. Mercy tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Carwin connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Mercy tumbling to the canvas! Carwin pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Mercy was done - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Shane Carwin!
