PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Minh Flores (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barry Allan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Minh Flores!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Barry Allan!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Darius Henderson and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good leg kick by Flores there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Allan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Flores, pushing him back against the cage.

Flores pulls guard successfully.

Flores is looking for a triangle but Allan pushes his legs off easily.

Flores manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Allan shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Allan is trying to control the action in half guard but Flores is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Flores is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Flores regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Allan.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Allan trying to control the position from guard on top but Flores is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Flores working for a triangle but Allan defends it easily.

Allan is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Flores has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Allan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Allan postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Flores is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Allan, into his guard.

Allan wants to sweep but no luck.
Flores really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Allan wants to get back to his feet but Flores is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Flores engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Allan tries to keep at a distance but Flores has taken the fight into the clinch.
Allan pushes off an throws an elbow but Flores leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Allan has Flores pressed against the cage, preventing Flores from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Allan breaks from the clinch.
Allan misses with a two punch combination.

Allan is trying to control the action in half guard but Flores is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Allan content to control rather than advance.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Flores tries to get to full guard but Allan has control of the leg.

Allan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Flores manages to get himself to full guard.


Flores escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Allan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Allan wants to stand but Flores is controlling his posture from full guard.

Allan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Allan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Flores looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Allan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Allan advances to half guard.

Flores looking for submissions off his back.
Allan looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Minh Flores overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Flores has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Allan escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Allan!
Allan wants to control but Flores is keeping him busy.
Flores gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Allan wants to control the pace but Flores is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Flores is bucking up trying to escape but Allan cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Allan can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Flores is looking to escape.
Flores slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Allan stalling.
Allan is trying to control the action in half guard but Flores is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barry Allan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!



Allan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Flores to the mat! Flores manages to get full guard.

Flores looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Flores looking for a guillotine here but Allan defends easily.
Flores being controlled here, momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Flores has his foot on Allan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Allan works his way back into a safe position though.

Allan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Flores is looking for a triangle but Allan pushes his legs off easily.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Flores is trying to improve his position.
Allan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Flores keeps working.
Allan landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Sloppy strikes there by Allan.
A lull in the action here.
Flores is not content to let Allan control the position.

Allan in side control, throwing shots but Flores defends.

Allan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Flores, who protects the arm well.

Flores bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Allan throws a predictable looking body shot
and Flores counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Allan gets tackled into the cage by Flores. Flores maintains the clinch.

Allan jumps guard.
Flores wants to control from the top but Allan keeps moving.
Allan is trying to hold Flores in close to prevent damage but Flores has managed to pass into half guard.
Allan avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Flores.
Flores not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Flores is looking to take a break and control but Allan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Flores lands strikes from half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Minh Flores.
I think Flores has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
