Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aderbal Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Kermodian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kermodian has chosen Arctic Monkeys - Mardy Bum as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kermodian wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Kermodian throws a big shot that misses.
Maia shoots in looking for a takedown. Kermodian tries to sprawl out of it but Maia keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kermodian manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

so Maia counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Maia drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kermodian looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kermodian looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kermodian!

Maia tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kermodian wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Kermodian is looking to take a break and control but Maia is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maia is not content to let Kermodian control the position.
Maia moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Kermodian stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maia swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Maia has his foot on Kermodian's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kermodian works his way back into a safe position though.

Maia working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kermodian doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kermodian manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Maia has gone for a leg lock! Kermodian slips out almost immediately though and dives into Maia's guard.

A close round but Mark Kermodian will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Maia tries for a takedown but Kermodian circles away easily
letting Kermodian counter with a right hand.
Kermodian pivots, looking for a leg kick but Maia is out of range and Kermodian settles back down.
No luck for Maia with that takedown attempt.
Maia misses with a takedown attempt - Kermodian sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Maia has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Kermodian doesn't defend quickly enough and Maia has managed to lock this one up! Can Kermodian escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Maia on a fantastic submission victory.
