Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dave Freed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Farzad Omad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dave Freed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Farzad Omad!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Freed gets a double leg takedown into Omad's guard.
Omad looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Omad working a defensive guard here.
Omad has a closed guard, preventing Freed from standing up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Omad controls Freed momentarily but Freed frees himself.
Omad wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Omad striking off his back but it's not causing Freed any problems.
Omad is trying to control the position but Freed postures up.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Omad is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Omad wants to clinch up but Freed keeps it at a distance.
Freed is looking to counter with head kicks.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Freed closes this distance looking for a takedown but Omad circles away.

Freed shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Freed is breathing heavily.
Omad is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Freed prevents Omad from standing back up.
Omad manages to get to full guard.
Freed stopping the sweep attempt from Omad.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Omad looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Freed puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Freed seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Freed is thwarting Omad's attempts to control the position.
Freed takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Omad is looking to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Omad shoots in for a takedown but Freed shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Omad shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Freed sprawls well. Freed wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Omad gets slowly back to his feet.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Freed closes the distance and pushes Omad back into the cage.
Omad can't get the takedown.
Dave Freed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Farzad Omad.
Freed keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Omad's efforts to push away.
Omad is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Freed pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Omad goes for a takedown attempt but Freed pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Omad shoots in and bounces Freed off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Omad trying to control the position from guard on top but Freed is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Freed tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Omad throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Freed's waist but Freed gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Omad off to one side.

Freed dives in and scores a takedown into Omad's guard.
Freed is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Omad not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Omad wants to stand and escape but Freed is having none of it.

Omad working for a triangle but Freed defends it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Omad controls Freed momentarily but Freed frees himself.

Freed works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Omad tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Freed prevents Omad from improving his position.
Freed is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Freed knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Omad on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Omad gets full guard.
Omad is trying to control the position but Freed postures up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Omad tries to clinch up but Freed circles away and keeps his distance.
Freed throws a big counter combination but Omad scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Freed throws a sloppy head kick and Omad moves out of range easily.
Omad throws a low kick but it's checked well by Freed.
Omad darts in trying to clinch
and Freed counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Omad shoots in for a takedown but Freed shows good takedown defense.
Omad tries to clinch but Freed is having none of it.
Freed swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Omad shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Freed counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Freed tries to land knees in the clinch but Omad avoids the damage to the body.
Omad tries to pull guard but Freed forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Freed gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Omad is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Freed has his hands clasped together but Omad extends and breaks Freed's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Omad.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Farzad Omad!
