Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ran Sakamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Mike Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ran Sakamoto!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Taro Takaoka and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakamoto shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side.
Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Jones gets to his feet - Sakamoto follows without any prompting.

Sakamoto fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but Sakamoto persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Sakamoto is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sakamoto.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Sakamoto is looking for a kimura here.
Jones on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jones tries to get out of the position.

Sakamoto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Sakamoto moves away from the strike by Jones.

Jones tries to clinch there but Sakamoto circles away.

and Jones counters with a takedown into side control.
Mike Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ran Sakamoto.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sakamoto on the ground.
Jones is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Jones lands a right hand that snaps the head of Sakamoto backwards.

Jones swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Sakamoto misses with the head strike.
Sakamoto fails to pull guard.
Sakamoto can't get the takedown.
Sakamoto blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Jones scores with a shoulder strike.
Sakamoto tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jones just stands there and leans against the ropes.
Jones is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sakamoto can do to turn this around?

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jones lands a shoulder strike.
Sakamoto goes for a takedown in the clinch but Jones prevents it.
Sakamoto tries to pull guard but Jones holds him up against the ropes and eventually Sakamoto drops back down to his feet.

Sakamoto jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jones walks away with a smile on his face. Sakamoto gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Jones drives through and clinches with Sakamoto against the ropes.
Sakamoto blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Jones pushes Sakamoto back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Sakamoto dodges an elbow strike from Jones.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Jones as Sakamoto tries to tie him up.
Jones is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ran Sakamoto has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mike Jones is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Jones has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
