PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Munoz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gottlieb Hiebknecht (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Munoz's entrance music is Lil Wayne ft Drake - Right above it. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jackson Munoz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gottlieb Hiebknecht!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Columbo Gatti and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Munoz throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hiebknecht sees it coming and avoids it easily.
No joy there for Munoz, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hiebknecht wants to clinch up but Munoz keeps it at a distance.
A telegraphed right hand from Munoz misses the target.
Hiebknecht lands a jab to Munoz's midsection.

Munoz dives in and scores a takedown into Hiebknecht's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Munoz wants to control from the top but Hiebknecht keeps moving.

Hiebknecht has his foot on Munoz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Munoz works his way back into a safe position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Munoz seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hiebknecht for as long as he can get away with.

Munoz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hiebknecht manages to avoid it.

Nice takedown defense from Hiebknecht. No joy for Munoz on that attempt.

Hiebknecht fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Munoz looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Munoz shoots in looking for a takedown but Hiebknecht manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Munoz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close second round but I would say that Jackson Munoz will probably get the nod.

Munoz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hiebknecht sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Munoz somewhat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A decent looking cross lands there for Hiebknecht.

I think Hiebknecht has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
