The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parker takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Parker moves into range and clinches up with Whitney.

Parker pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Whitney moves into the clinch.
Parker lands an uppercut.
Whitney goes for a takedown in the clinch but Parker prevents it.
Parker lands a right hand that snaps the head of Whitney backwards.
Whitney is looking to break free of the clinch but Parker has double underhooks.
Parker unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Parker on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Whitney tries to pull guard but Parker holds him up against the cage and eventually Whitney drops back down to his feet.
Whitney is breathing heavily.

Parker pulls guard successfully.
Parker is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Parker's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Parker looking to hit a scissor sweep but Whitney is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Whitney looking to sit in guard and control but Parker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Whitney leaves Parker with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Parker misses with a series of wild punches.
Parker shoots in looking for a takedown. Whitney tries to sprawl out of it but Parker keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Whitney manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Whitney throws a big counter combination but Parker scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Whitney tries to stall but Parker uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Parker has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Whitney avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
