Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alex Metaalic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evgenii Mamchenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Evgenii Mamchenko!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Daniel Blasius and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mamchenko tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Metaalic swivels and escapes.
Metaalic avoids a kick to the body.

and Mamchenko counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Mamchenko.
Metaalic looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Mamchenko tries to free his leg and advance position but Metaalic is retaining full guard.
Metaalic will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Metaalic looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mamchenko is one step ahead there.
Mamchenko trying to control the position from guard on top but Metaalic is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Metaalic holds on and takes a little breather.

Mamchenko is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Mamchenko won't allow Metaalic to get back to his feet.
Metaalic is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mamchenko shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Metaalic as he avoids it easily.
Mamchenko pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Metaalic back to the cage. Mamchenko follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Metaalic takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Mamchenko closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Metaalic is looking for a sweep. Mamchenko is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Mamchenko not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Mamchenko is working for a kimura but Metaalic is defending it quite comfortably.
Metaalic looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Mamchenko is working for a submission of some sort.
Metaalic wants to improve his position but Mamchenko is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Metaalic is trying is best to control the position here.

Mamchenko is looking for a kimura here.
Metaalic is trying to maintain the position but Mamchenko is very close to passing his half guard.
Metaalic tries to roll over but Mamchenko keeps him under control.
Mamchenko is trying to control. Metaalic wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Mamchenko in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Metaalic tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Mamchenko!

A pretty intense looking Evgenii Mamchenko took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
