PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Johns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Endleman Schubert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schubert has chosen Seve by Tez Cadey as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Charlie Johns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Endleman Schubert!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johns misses with an uppercut.
A head kick misses from Schubert.
Johns rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Schubert counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Johns is lucky that one didn't land flush.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Johns crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Schubert - the referee stops the clock and Johns gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Schubert. Johns manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Schubert goes for a high kick. It partially lands.


It looks like Charlie Johns has been cut.

Johns looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Johns keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Schubert's head.
Johns throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Schubert works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Johns postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Schubert wants to stand and escape but Johns is having none of it.

Schubert has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Johns makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Schubert is working an open guard so Johns takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Charlie Johns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Schubert throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Johns slips a straight right by Schubert.
Johns is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Schubert.
Schubert throws a lazy uppercut
and Schubert takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Johns looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Johns shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Schubert as he jumps to the side.

Schubert lands a big head kick that sends Johns tumbling to the mat! Schubert takes a step backwards and waves Johns back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Johns throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Schubert's waist but Schubert gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Johns off to one side.

Johns manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Schubert on his heels. He'll look to pass Schubert's guard now, I'm sure.
This has been an exciting period of action!

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Schubert holds on and takes a little breather.

Schubert wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Johns manages to pass to side control.

Schubert tries to kick Johns off but Johns keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Johns has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Johns thows a huge punch but Schubert dodges it nicely.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Schubert can do anything to dispel that myth.

Endleman Schubert's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Endleman Schubert's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Charlie Johns!
A very excited looking Charlie Johns made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
