PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Everett Duncan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Allen Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Parker has chosen No Role Modelz (Instrumental) as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Everett Duncan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Allen Parker!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Parker feints and as Duncan raises his hands in defense, Parker changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Parker looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Duncan is trying to control the position but Parker postures up.
Parker sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Parker working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Parker trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Duncan has an active guard here but Parker has managed to pass into half guard.
Duncan is in trouble now - Parker has advanced to mount!
Duncan really is a fat lump.

Duncan tries to hold on but Parker pushes him away.

Parker swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Duncan is now in Parker's guard. A big mistake from Parker there, giving up the dominant position!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Parker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Parker is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Parker is in close to Duncan's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Parker has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Duncan gets caught flat footed, as Parker shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Parker is trying to control. Duncan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Parker thows a huge punch but Duncan dodges it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Parker throws an elbow that misses. Duncan uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Parker's guard. Nice move by Duncan!

Parker is pulling down on Duncan's head to control his posture.
Duncan stops Parker from standing up.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Parker. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Parker throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Duncan works over Parker with some ground and pound from guard.

Parker escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Duncan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Parker manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Duncan manages to get himself to full guard.

Parker has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Parker will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Duncan throws an elbow that misses. Parker uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Duncan's guard. Nice move by Parker!


Duncan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Parker trying to control the position from guard on top but Duncan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Parker is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Duncan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Parker is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Parker drops back, looking for a kneebar! Duncan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Duncan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Duncan!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Parker is trying to control Duncan's posture but Duncan avoids it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Everett Duncan dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Parker lands with a slapping head kick.
Allen Parker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Parker closes the distance and lands a one-two.


It looks like Everett Duncan has been cut.

Parker manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Duncan on his heels. He'll look to pass Duncan's guard now, I'm sure.

Duncan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Parker gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Parker slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Allen Parker has got the better of the ground game so far.
Parker wants to get up but he can't break Duncan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Parker is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Parker shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Parker passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Duncan!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Parker wants to control the pace but Duncan is squirming around nicely.
Parker throwing strikes here but Duncan is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Parker tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Duncan wants to hold on but Parker pushes him away.
Parker wants to control the pace but Duncan is squirming around nicely.
Duncan wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Parker.
Parker trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Parker avoids the attempt from Duncan to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Parker throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Poor strikes thrown by Parker there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Allen Parker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Parker has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
