Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnson Blu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogan plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

It looks like Johnson Blu has been cut.
Hogan misses with a head kick.
Blu takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Johnson Blu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Blu closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hogan quickly recovers to half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We've been hearing good reports from Hogan's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Blu is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Hogan to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Hogan shrugs it off.
Blu tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hogan is wriggling around trying to escape.

Let's hope that Blu has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Hogan sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Blu wants to work for an arm triangle but Hogan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Blu with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Hogan is breathing heavily.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Blu lands a nice short elbow.

Blu moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Hogan.

Blu working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Hogan is looking for a sweep.
A lull in the action here as Blu stalls from top position.

Blu's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Hogan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Blu wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Blu is trying to get an arm triangle but Hogan is defending well.
Blu looks up at the clock and then as Hogan takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Blu smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Blu remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Hogan tries to improve position but can't.
Blu is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hogan's shoulder. That is not cool.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hogan is looking for a sweep.
Hogan is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Blu off and has taken his back!

Hogan has his opponent's back but Blu is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Hogan.
Blu throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hogan tries to land a front kick but Blu steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Blu throws a counter combo.
Joe Hogan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Blu shoots in and bounces Hogan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Blu controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Hogan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnson Blu dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Johnson Blu's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Hogan with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Blu to score with a decent uppercut.
Hogan throws a sloppy head kick and Blu moves out of range easily.
Blu unleashes a big counter combination but Hogan bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Blu shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Blu showed some decent athleticism there.

Hogan actively working from the bottom here.

Hogan has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Blu. Oh but Hogan has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Blu goes limp - he's gone! Hogan jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
