The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hairston manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Brennan on his heels. He'll look to pass Brennan's guard now, I'm sure.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Let's hope that Hairston has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Hairston's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Hairston instigates a clinch.

Brennan fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Brennan is looking to control Hairston's arms but Hairston gets an underhook and turns him. Now Brennan has his back to the cage.
Hairston is looking to break free of the clinch but Brennan has double underhooks.
Brennan misses with some punches.
Brennan tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Brennan has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Hairston after a bit of a struggle.

Hairston pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hairston lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Brennan circles away quickly and effectively.
Brennan changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Hairston decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Brennan, up you get!
Brennan really is a fat lump.

Hairston closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hairston lands in his opponent's guard.

Brennan doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Brennan wants to clinch but Hairston slips to the side
and Hairston connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Hairston catches Brennan with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Brennan doesn't manage to clinch there - Hairston circles away.
Brennan moves in looking to clinch but Hairston pushes him off.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Hairston has cracked Brennan with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Hairston lands another huge swinging hook and Brennan tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Brennan, before Hairston can land any more shots!
