Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Swanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Genghis Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Genghis Khan has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Andrew Swanson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Genghis Khan!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Khan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Some bone on bone action there as Khan checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Khan shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Swanson is trying to defend but Khan finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Swanson tries to kick Khan off in order to stand up. Khan Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Khan advances to mount.
Swanson regains half guard.
Swanson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Khan is looking for a kimura here.
Swanson is trying to get back to full guard.

Khan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Khan seems to be working for a kimura but Swanson defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Swanson misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Swanson strikes from the bottom but Khan uses the opportunity to move to side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Khan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Swanson regains half guard.
Swanson is breathing heavily.

Khan is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Swanson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Swanson shrugs it off.

Khan is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Swanson has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Swanson!

Swanson throws a strike but Khan rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Khan forces Swanson back against the cage and clinches.
Swanson is trying to pull guard but Khan turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Khan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Swanson stuffs the takedown.
Khan shoots for a double leg takedown but Swanson sprawls well. He's pushed Khan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Swanson wants to clinch.
Khan is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Khan shoots for a takedown but Swanson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Andrew Swanson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Genghis Khan.
Khan swats away the attempt to clinch by Swanson.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Khan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Swanson on his heels. He'll look to pass Swanson's guard now, I'm sure.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Khan wants to stand but Swanson is controlling the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Swanson wants to clinch up but Khan keeps it at a distance.

Swanson tries to pull guard but Khan forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Swanson tries to score a body lock takedown but Khan shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Khan is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Khan shoots in looking for a takedown but Swanson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Khan's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Swanson is wriggling around but Khan manages to pass to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Genghis Khan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Khan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Swanson avoids it really well and circles away.
Swanson tries to clinch up but Khan circles away and keeps his distance.

Khan gets tackled into the cage by Swanson. Swanson maintains the clinch.

Khan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Swanson tries to pull guard but Khan holds him up against the cage and eventually Swanson drops back down to his feet.

Swanson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Khan just stands there and leans against the cage.

Khan manages to break the clinch.
Khan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Swanson pinned against the cage. Swanson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Khan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Swanson enables Khan to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Swanson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Swanson is wriggling around but Khan manages to pass to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.


Khan is looking for a kimura here.
Khan wants to pass to mount but Swanson is defending the position.
Genghis Khan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Swanson trying to hold on to Khan's head to control him but Khan postures up.
Khan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Khan is looking to take a break and control but Swanson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Genghis Khan has got the better of the ground game so far.

Swanson tries to hold on but Khan pushes him away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Swanson is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Khan has taken his back!

Swanson is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
Genghis Khan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Khan winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
