Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Akira Akiyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dietrich Jager (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Akira Akiyama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dietrich Jager!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akiyama finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Akiyama throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Akiyama misses with a hook.
Jager tries to counter with a clinch but Akiyama shakes him off and moves away.

and Jager counters with a nice body shot.
Jager is trying hard to land a takedown here. Akiyama sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Akiyama tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jager manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Jager lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Jager closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Akiyama's guard.
Akiyama can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jager controls the pace.
Jager missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Akiyama on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Akiyama tries to get out of the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Akiyama wants to clinch but Jager slips to the side
and Jager counters with a nice uppercut.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Akiyama, right into the meat.
Akiyama misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Jager cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Akira Akiyama seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Akiyama takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Akiyama throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Jager counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Jager is controlling the pace.

Jager content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jager thows a huge punch but Akiyama dodges it nicely.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Jager is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Akiyama defends it well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jager scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Jager controlling the position easily from mount.
Akiyama is bucking up trying to escape but Jager cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Akiyama defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Jager.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jager looking to ground and pound but Akiyama is blocking nicely.

Jager jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Akiyama manages to avoid the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Jager moves away from the strike by Akiyama.

Jager looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Jager slows the pace down in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jager is continuing to stall.
Jager lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jager seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Jager is working for a kimura but Akiyama is defending it quite comfortably.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Good leg kick by Akiyama there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Akiyama scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Jager doesn't seem bothered though.

and Jager moves into the clinch.

Jager's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Akira Akiyama is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jager looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Akiyama is fending him off so far but Jager persists. Nope, Akiyama circles away and we're back to standing.

Jager is breathing heavily.
Jager swats away the attempt to clinch by Akiyama.
Jager changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Akiyama tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jager manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Oooooh!!! Akiyama has knocked Jager down with a huge combo! Akiyama steps away and waves a wobbly Jager back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


It looks like Dietrich Jager has been cut.
Akiyama tries to clinch but Jager is having none of it.
Akiyama moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Akiyama throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

We've been told by Akiyama's head coaches at Cannagym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Jager tries to land a front kick but Akiyama steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Akiyama clinches.
Akiyama has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jager is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Akiyama is looking to take this one to the mat.
Jager prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Akira Akiyama. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Akiyama is trying to drag Jager to the mat but Jager just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Jager shoots in for a takedown but Akiyama shows good takedown defense.
It looked like Akiyama wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Akiyama went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Akiyama is working for takedown but Jager is calmly controlling the position for now.
Akiyama is trying to drag Jager to the mat but Jager just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Akiyama drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jager gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Jager escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jager closes the distance and clinches up with Akiyama, looking for a takedown. Jager pushes Akiyama against the cage but Akiyama circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Akiyama appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Jager tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

A nice leg kick lands there from Akiyama.
Akiyama connects with the punch.
Jager dives in for a single leg takedown but Akiyama sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Jager walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Akiyama doesn't manage to clinch there - Jager circles away.
Akiyama looks to score with a jab to the body but Jager is just out of range.

Jager bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

I would just about give that final round to Dietrich Jager.
I think Jager has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
