PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Akira Kurosawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demarcus Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kurosawa comes to the cage accompanied by War drums. Akira Kurosawa has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Akira Kurosawa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Demarcus Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson thows a left - swing and a miss!

Kurosawa drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Kurosawa is pushing down on Jackson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jackson is fighting to maintain full guard but Kurosawa has managed to sneak the leg through.
Kurosawa is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kurosawa thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jackson tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Kurosawa manages to move to mount!
Kurosawa pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Kurosawa has control of Jackson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jackson regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Kurosawa goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Jackson is on top in guard.

Kurosawa shoots for a double leg takedown but Jackson sprawls well. He's pushed Kurosawa's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Jackson throws a low kick but Kurosawa avoids it.
Jackson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kurosawa takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Some wild striking there from Jackson.
Kurosawa closes the distance and clinches up with Jackson, looking for a takedown. Kurosawa pushes Jackson against the cage but Jackson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Akira Kurosawa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Horrible takedown by Kurosawa or perhaps it was just good defense by Jackson which made him look bad.
Jackson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kurosawa momentarily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Kurosawa drags him back down.

Jackson takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Kurosawa has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

and Kurosawa counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Jackson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kurosawa's guard.
Demarcus Jackson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jackson is looking to stand up but Kurosawa won't let him.

Kurosawa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jackson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kurosawa has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Jackson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Kurosawa.

Kurosawa shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jackson but Jackson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kurosawa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jackson tries to avoid it but Kurosawa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jackson to the ground. Jackson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Demarcus Jackson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kurosawa has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
