Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Simon Keeler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Deshawn Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Keeler looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Jackson!

Keeler has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Jackson punishes Keeler's body with a nice straight punch.
Keeler tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jackson is looking for the big counter here.
Jackson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Keeler's waist but Keeler gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jackson off to one side.

Jackson manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Keeler could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Keeler is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Jackson is working an open guard so Keeler takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Keeler shoots in but Jackson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Keeler keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.


It looks like Deshawn Jackson has been cut.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Keeler takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Jackson is trying to pull guard but Keeler has him pressed against the cage.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Keeler tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jackson just stands there and leans against the cage.

Keeler's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Keeler misses with a double jab.

Keeler gets a takedown into half guard.
Keeler takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Keeler is controlling the pace.

Keeler frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Keeler trying to control but Jackson is having none of it.
Keeler lands a couple of good shots and Jackson has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Despite the aggression on Jackson's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Keeler slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Keeler lands a couple of digs.

Keeler gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Jackson swats away the attempt to clinch by Keeler.
Keeler looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jackson is fending him off so far but Keeler persists. Nope, Jackson circles away and we're back to standing.
Keeler tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jackson defends well and Keeler ends up having to push Jackson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Keeler swings for the body but Jackson moves out of range.

Keeler throws a hook but Jackson blocks it.

Keeler bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Keeler is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Jackson's shoulder. That is not cool.

Jackson takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Jackson tries to buck Keeler off but Keeler is having none of it.
Jackson is still trying to improve position.
Keeler is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Jackson will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Keeler is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jackson tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Keeler dives in and grabs Jackson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jackson pushes down on Keeler's head and hops out.

Keeler shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jackson as he avoids it easily.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Jackson keeps Keeler at a distance using the push kick.
Keeler fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jackson manages to avoid it.
Keeler fails to land the takedown.
Keeler misses with a few strikes there.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jackson enables Keeler to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jackson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Keeler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Keeler's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Keeler thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Keeler throws a right and a left that both miss.

Keeler shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jackson is trying to defend but Keeler finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Jackson scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Keeler manages to mount him!
Jackson is looking to improve his position but Keeler isn't that keen on the idea.

Keeler lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Simon Keeler overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Keeler looking for a guillotine from mount but Jackson is having none of it.
Keeler pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Keeler stands up from mount. Strange move.

Keeler shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jackson napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Well Keeler has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
