PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ramon Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Angelo Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes into the arena with Jiu Jitsu: Vai Finaliza! blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Moore's choice of entrance music: Lyin' Ass Bitch by Fishbone. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ramon Gracie!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Angelo Moore!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Aafke Stam and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moore fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Moore comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Moore throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gracie drops down looking for a counter takedown but Moore sprawls and moves away.
Gracie avoids the body shot from Moore.
Moore lands a glancing blow to the side of Gracie's head.
Moore scores with a body shot.
Moore's coach down at Netherlands Top Team & Kickboxing Academy was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Moore's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Moore uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Gracie has time to react.
Moore ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Gracie clinches.
Moore scores with a hook to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Moore stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Moore misses with a hook to the ribs.
I was talking to Gracie's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Moore has a couple of punches blocked by Gracie.

Moore lands a body punch in the clinch.
Moore lands a left hand.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Moore lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Gracie controlling the action here for a moment.
Gracie throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Moore gets through Gracie's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Gracie.
Moore lands a body shot in the clinch.
Gracie jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Moore walks away with a smile on his face. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Moore fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gracie manages to avoid it.
Moore cracks Gracie with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.


It looks like Ramon Gracie has been cut.
Gracie with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Moore to score with a decent uppercut.
Moore connects with the punch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Moore thuds a left hand into Gracie's body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Moore just misses with a punch to the body.
Moore connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Gracie's hands.
Moore lands with a cross.
Moore fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Moore uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gracie.
Angelo Moore is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Moore misses with a lunging right hand

and Gracie counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Gracie stands and throws Moore's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Moore is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Moore is holding Gracie down, trying to stall.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gracie advances to mount.
Moore keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Gracie thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Gracie is working for a guillotine from mount but Moore frees his head quite easily.
Gracie looking to control and managing it successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gracie takes Moore's back.

Gracie looking to break Moore's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Moore remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Gracie will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
I really don't envy Moore right now.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Angelo Moore dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ramon Gracie's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Gracie tries to close the distance and clinch but Moore swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Moore throws out a counter right but Gracie avoids it with no problem.
Moore fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gracie manages to avoid it.
Gracie throws a chopping leg kick but Moore manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Moore doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Moore punishes Gracie's body with a nice straight punch.
Moore has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Gracie throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Moore cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Angelo Moore seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moore lands with a good body shot.
Moore misses with a telegraphed body shot

and Gracie counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gracie.
Moore is wriggling around but Gracie manages to pass to half guard.

Ramon Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gracie missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Gracie is looking to stall here but Moore recovers full guard.
Gracie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Moore is keeping the position for now.

Moore keeping moving, preventing Gracie from controlling successfully.
Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but Moore is retaining full guard.
Moore looking for a sweep. Not yet Moore, not yet.
Moore is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Gracie trying to control the position from guard on top but Moore is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Moore working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gracie.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Moore can do anything to dispel that myth.
Gracie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Moore is keeping the position for now.
Gracie pushes down on Moore's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Gracie in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Moore tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Gracie!
