The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Shabazz defends it nicely.
Shabazz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Shabazz throws a sloppy head kick and Silva moves out of range easily.
Silva shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Shabazz napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Shabazz tries to improve position but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Shabazz, who protects the arm well.
Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shabazz keeps working.
Silva tries for a kimura but Shabazz is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva is working to tighten his grip on Shabazz's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Shabazz has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Silva is really squeezing tight and eventually Shabazz passes out! Silva breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
