PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bjorn Gunvaldsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bjorn Gunvaldsson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Roger Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson misses with a head kick.
Nelson ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Gunvaldsson instigates a clinch.
Nelson wants to break the clinch but can't.

Gunvaldsson has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Nelson regains guard immediately.

Nelson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gunvaldsson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Gunvaldsson stays in close to Nelson's body and controls the position.

Nelson is looking for a triangle but Gunvaldsson pushes his legs off easily.
Nelson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Nelson is trying to keep Gunvaldsson in close.
Gunvaldsson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nelson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gunvaldsson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nelson on the ground.

Nelson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gunvaldsson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee asks Gunvaldsson politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Gunvaldsson prefers to stall for the moment though.

Nelson is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Gunvaldsson hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!

An out of breath Roger Nelson thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
The defeated Bjorn Gunvaldsson had this to say: 'Ok I lost against Nelson twice in a row now... back to training and destroying some contenders so I can have another shot at the tittle'.
