The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montes throws a lazy head kick
and Acevedo holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Montes tries a knee to the head but Acevedo blocks it.
Acevedo stalls.
Acevedo is looking to take this one to the mat.
Montes gets underhooks to prevent Acevedo's takedown attempt.
Acevedo has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Montes uses from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Montes wants to get up but he can't break Acevedo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Montes trying to control the position from guard on top but Acevedo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Montes is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Acevedo looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Acevedo trying to keep a closed guard but Montes is proving a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Acevedo pushes a forearm under Montes's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Montes is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
